Native plants like nettle and cedar have been important sources for making strong fibers that are used in countless ways by Indigenous people of the Pacific Northwest. Join Jesse Norton as he demonstrates how to make cordage from different plants and teaches participants to create their own bracelet. Ages 8 and up.

This event is funded by a grant by the Cultural Coaltion of Washington County.

Jesse Norton is a member of the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde and works for his tribe as a Cultural Protection Specialist. His tribal heritage includes Umpqua, Molalla, Chinook, Tillamook, and Klickitat. He strives to protect and preserve his tribal customs, practices, and traditions to honor previous generations and those to come.
